#1 Snowflake Takes Perfect Record on the Road to Mesquite
The undefeated Snowflake Lobos take their perfect record on the road Thursday night as they travel to Gilbert to face the Mesquite Wildcats in a 4A Desert Sky Region matchup.
Snowflake enters the game 8-0 overall and 3-0 in region play and remains the #1-ranked team in 4A. The Lobos are coming off another dominant defensive performance, beating Eastmark 31-3 last Friday.
Snowflake has now outscored its opponents 338-76 this season. More importantly, the Lobos are 3-0 since beginning Desert Sky Region play, with victories over Poston Butte, Combs and Eastmark.
A major reason for Snowflake’s success continues to be senior running back #33 Brenner Green. Green enters tonight with 1,269 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns, leading the Desert Sky Region in both rushing yards and total touchdowns.
The Lobos have also gotten starting quarterback Jacob LaDuke back after he missed time earlier in the season. LaDuke has thrown for 402 yards and five touchdowns in four games, while sophomore Maverick Greer has also played a major role at quarterback this season.
Defensively, Snowflake is coming off one of its strongest performances of the year. The Lobos held Eastmark to just three points last week, while Ziggy Ulberg recorded two sacks and three tackles for loss. Ulberg has now recorded at least one sack in four consecutive games.
Mesquite enters the matchup 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the Desert Sky Region, but the Wildcats showed last week that they can put points on the board.
Mesquite escaped with a 45-44 win over Combs, with running back Maceo Ruiz rushing for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Angelo Orozco threw for 292 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
The Wildcats’ season has been inconsistent. Mesquite was shut out in back-to-back region losses to Eastmark and Arcadia before exploding for 45 points against Combs last week.
Snowflake can’t afford to overlook the Wildcats, especially with another huge region game looming next week. The Lobos travel to Arcadia on October 30 in a matchup that could ultimately decide the Desert Sky Region championship.
But first, Snowflake has business to take care of in Gilbert.

#1 Snowflake Returns Home to Face Dangerous Eastmark Team
The Snowflake Lobos are back on top of 4A football, and Friday night they’ll put that #1 ranking and their undefeated record on the line when the Eastmark Firebirds come to Snowflake.
Snowflake enters the game 7-0 after another dominant performance last week, rolling past Combs 62-7 on the road. The Lobos moved back into the #1 spot in the 4A rankings following Mica Mountain’s 22-21 loss to Walden Grove.
Eastmark comes to the White Mountains with a 4-3 record and is ranked #12 in 4A. The Firebirds are coming off a narrow 14-13 loss to Poston Butte, but their record may not tell the whole story.
Earlier this season, Eastmark went on the road and defeated Walden Grove 26-23. That’s the same Walden Grove team that knocked off previously unbeaten and #1-ranked Mica Mountain last week.
In other words, the Lobos have plenty of reason not to look past the Firebirds.
Players to Watch
Snowflake – #8 Jacob LaDuke, QB
LaDuke is back at quarterback for the Lobos after missing time earlier this season with a knee injury. He has started the last two games and will be under center again Friday night. Against Poston Butte, LaDuke threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Last week against Combs, he completed 5 of 6 passes for 90 yards and two more scores in the 62-7 victory.
Having LaDuke back gives Snowflake another dimension as the Lobos head into the final weeks of the regular season.
Snowflake – #33 Brenner Green, RB/LB
Green continues to be the workhorse of the Snowflake offense. The senior has rushed for 1,123 yards this season, averaging more than 160 yards per game, and has scored 23 total touchdowns.
Friday night’s game features an interesting matchup because Eastmark brings one of 4A’s other top running backs to Snowflake.
Eastmark – #20 Zaiden Virani, RB/MLB
Virani has rushed for 1,108 yards this season, setting up a matchup featuring two running backs who have already surpassed 1,100 yards.
Virani carried the ball 25 times for 139 yards and a touchdown in Eastmark’s 14-13 loss to Poston Butte last week. Slowing him down will likely be one of the top priorities for the Snowflake defense.
Eastmark – #13 A. Davis, QB
Davis completed 16 of 24 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown against Poston Butte last week. If Snowflake commits additional defenders to stopping Virani and Eastmark’s running game, Davis could have opportunities to make plays through the air.
Could Reidhead Return?
Another storyline to watch Friday night is the possible return of Snowflake senior receiver and defensive back #6 Nash Reidhead.
The 6-foot-4 senior has been sidelined with a shoulder injury suffered early in the season, but there is a possibility Reidhead could return to action against Eastmark. Before the injury, Reidhead was one of Snowflake’s top receiving threats.
If he’s able to go Friday night, his return would give LaDuke another weapon in the passing game as the Lobos prepare for the final stretch of the regular season.
Lobos Looking to Stay Perfect
Snowflake has outscored its last four opponents 220-42, including wins over Marcos de Niza, Poston Butte and Combs. But Eastmark represents an interesting challenge.
The Firebirds have already demonstrated that they can beat a quality opponent on the road. Snowflake, meanwhile, has plenty on the line: an undefeated season, the #1 ranking in 4A and positioning in the 4A Desert Sky Region.

No. 2 Snowflake Hits the Road Again for Desert Sky Matchup at Combs
The Snowflake Lobos are getting used to long bus rides.
Friday night, the undefeated Lobos make another trip off the mountain, this time traveling to San Tan Valley to take on the Combs Coyotes in a 4A Desert Sky Region matchup.
Snowflake enters the game 6-0 following a convincing 42-7 victory over Poston Butte last week. Despite the win, the Lobos dropped one spot in the latest AIA rankings and enter Friday night ranked No. 2 in 4A.
One of the encouraging developments for Snowflake has been the return of senior quarterback #8 Jacob LaDuke.
LaDuke missed time earlier this season with a knee injury but has been back under center for the Lobos and appears to be finding his rhythm. Last week against Poston Butte, LaDuke completed 8 of 15 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception.
His return adds another dimension to an offense that has continued to produce behind senior running back #33 Brenner Green.
Green enters the game with 987 rushing yards this season. Against Poston Butte, he carried the ball 15 times for 106 yards and found the end zone four times.
Senior #0 Colter Willis is another player to watch in the Snowflake offense. Willis has 216 receiving yards this season and gives LaDuke another option in the passing game.
Don’t Overlook the Coyotes
On paper, Snowflake will be the favorite Friday night, but Combs has several playmakers capable of creating problems.
The Coyotes enter the game 3-3 after beginning the season with three consecutive victories. Combs has since lost three straight, including a 42-7 loss to Arcadia last week.
Junior #11 Drexton Clare is one of the players Snowflake will have to contain. Clare leads Combs with 539 rushing yards and nine touchdowns and also contributes on defense at linebacker.
Senior #4 Skyler Lawrence may be the most versatile player on the Combs roster. Lawrence spent time at quarterback earlier in the season, throwing for 415 yards and seven touchdowns, but has recently been contributing as a receiver. He has 210 receiving yards this season and caught five passes for 57 yards and a touchdown against Arcadia last week.
Senior #2 Layne Brady is another player to watch. Brady has 190 receiving yards this season and handled the passing duties against Arcadia, completing 12 of 23 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Another Long Night on the Road
Playing away from home has become a familiar storyline for the Lobos this season, and Friday night brings another lengthy trip before they can even take the field.
Snowflake has handled those challenges so far and remains one of the only undefeated teams in 4A.
Now the Lobos will try to make the long ride to San Tan Valley worthwhile, improve to 7-0, and continue their pursuit of the top spot in 4A.

Undefeated Lobos Host Poston Butte as Desert Sky Region Play Begins
The undefeated Snowflake Lobos return home Friday night looking to keep their perfect season rolling as they host the Poston Butte Broncos in a 4A Desert Sky Region matchup.
Snowflake enters the game 5-0 and ranked #1 in 4A, while Poston Butte makes the long trip to the White Mountains with a 1-4 record and a #26 ranking.
On paper, the Lobos are heavy favorites. Snowflake has outscored its opponents 203-59 through its first five games and is coming off an impressive 61-21 Homecoming victory over Marcos de Niza. But with region play beginning, the Lobos can’t afford to look past a Poston Butte team that has shown it can keep games close.
The Broncos picked up their first win of the season with a 24-14 victory over Paradise Honors and have since lost a pair of relatively close games, falling 18-6 to Marcos de Niza and 19-12 to Peoria.
Players to Watch — Snowflake
#33 Brenner Green — RB/LB
Green continues to be one of the biggest weapons in the Snowflake offense. Through five games, he is averaging 176.2 rushing yards per game and has scored 16 total touchdowns. Last week against Marcos de Niza, Green rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns on just 12 carries and added another touchdown receiving.
#3 Maverick Greer — QB/FS
Greer has helped keep the Lobos offense moving at quarterback and enters Friday averaging 89 passing yards per game. His ability to complement Snowflake’s powerful running game gives opposing defenses another concern.
#12 Colter Willis — WR/DB
Willis has been a key contributor on defense and leads the Lobos at 6.4 tackles per game.
#44 Ziggy Ulberg — DE/TE
Watch for Ulberg along the defensive front. He leads Snowflake with four sacks through the first five games.
Players to Watch — Poston Butte
#4 Mark Berg — RB/CB/KR
The sophomore leads the Broncos’ ground game, averaging 49.6 rushing yards per game. Berg has shown big-play ability this season, including an 82-yard rushing performance with a touchdown against Northwest Christian.
#10 Chase Brittain — TE/MLB
Brittain is a player the Lobos will have to account for defensively. The senior leads Poston Butte with 47 total tackles, averaging 9.4 per game.
#58 Raymond Diaz — TE/DE
Diaz leads the Broncos’ pass rush with 2.5 sacks and also handles punting duties.
#5 Avien Lanphere — WR/CB
Lanphere leads the Broncos with two interceptions and could make Snowflake think twice about testing him through the air.
Don’t Look Past the Broncos
Everything points toward Snowflake being in control Friday night. The Lobos are undefeated, playing at home and have been one of the most dominant teams in 4A football through the first half of the season.
But that’s also what makes this game potentially dangerous. With bigger games still ahead on the schedule, Snowflake needs to take care of the opponent standing in front of them first.
A victory would move the Lobos to 6-0 and give them a strong start to Desert Sky Region play as they continue their pursuit of another deep postseason run.

Two of Arizona’s top 4A football teams will meet Friday night as the undefeated Snowflake Lobos welcome the Marcos de Niza Padres to the White Mountains.
SNOWFLAKE, AZ — The top-ranked Snowflake Lobos (4-0) return to their home field Friday night, September 25, looking to keep their perfect season intact against the #16 Marcos de Niza Padres (3-1).
The Lobos are coming off a dominant 55-7 road victory over Catalina Foothills, while the Padres enter the contest following an 18-6 win over Poston Butte.
Friday’s matchup features two outstanding rushing attacks, led by running backs who have each scored 10 touchdowns through the first four games of the season.
A Battle of Two Explosive Running Backs
Snowflake’s Brenner Green has been a driving force behind the Lobos’ unbeaten start. The senior is averaging 175.5 rushing yards per game and has found the end zone 10 times, including nine rushing touchdowns.
On the opposite sideline, Marcos de Niza senior Chrisitan Garcia has been putting up remarkable numbers. Garcia has rushed for 973 yards through four games, averaging 243.3 yards per contest. He has also scored 10 total touchdowns, including nine on the ground.
With both running backs capable of taking over a game, Friday night’s contest could come down to which defense can contain the opposing rushing attack.

Lobos Hit the Road Again for Friday Night Showdown with Catalina Foothills
The Snowflake Lobos are hitting the road again.
After opening the 2026 season with three straight victories, Snowflake makes another grueling road trip Friday night—this time traveling from the White Mountains all the way to Tucson to take on the Catalina Foothills Falcons.
The Lobos enter the matchup undefeated at 3–0 following wins over Coconino, ALA–West Foothills and Bradshaw Mountain. Catalina Foothills enters the game still searching for its first victory of the season at 0–3.
On paper, the records may make Snowflake the more accomplished team through the first three weeks, but playing on the road in Tucson presents another challenge for a Lobos team that has already logged plenty of miles this season.
Snowflake Tested Against Bradshaw Mountain
Snowflake is coming off its toughest game of the young season.
After convincing victories over Coconino and ALA–West Foothills, the Lobos returned home last Friday to face an undefeated Bradshaw Mountain team. Snowflake survived the test, coming away with a hard-fought 17–10 victory and improving to 3–0.
Now, instead of settling in for another home game, the Lobos climb back on the bus for one of their longest road trips of the season.
Snowflake has already shown it can win away from home, defeating ALA–West Foothills 33–14 earlier this season. Friday night gives the Lobos another opportunity to prove they can take their game on the road.
Players to Watch for Snowflake
Senior running back Brenner Green continues to be one of the centerpieces of the Snowflake offense. Through three games, Green is averaging nearly 179 rushing yards per game and has scored six total touchdowns.
With starting quarterback Jacob LaDuke sidelined, sophomore Maverick Greer has been asked to take on a major role in the Snowflake offense. Greer has responded by throwing six touchdown passes through the first three games of the season.
Senior Colter Willis gives Snowflake another playmaker to watch. Willis is averaging nearly 43 receiving yards per game with two receiving touchdowns, while also making an impact defensively with an interception.
On defense, Zander Alcantar has been among Snowflake’s leading tacklers, while Issac Woodside, Ziggy Ulberg and Connor Reed have provided pressure up front.
Players to Watch for Catalina Foothills
Catalina Foothills may be looking for its first victory, but the Falcons have several players capable of making an impact Friday night.
Senior running back Khalil Azzam has been a key part of the Falcons’ offense, rushing for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Drew Kumar has thrown for 279 yards, while Gavin Laxdal has emerged as one of his primary targets with 151 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Those three will be players for the Snowflake defense to keep an eye on throughout the night.
A Rematch from Last Season
The two programs are familiar with each other.
Catalina Foothills made the trip to Snowflake last season, and the Lobos controlled the matchup on their home field, defeating the Falcons 45–13.
Friday night’s circumstances are considerably different.
This time Snowflake is the team making the long trip, and Catalina Foothills will have the opportunity to face the Lobos in Tucson.
Can Snowflake handle another long road trip, take care of business away from home and keep its undefeated season alive?

UNDEFEATED SHOWDOWN: Bradshaw Mountain Bears vs. Snowflake Lobos
Two undefeated teams. Two of the top programs in Arizona 4A football. And one huge Friday night matchup in Snowflake.
The 2-0 Bradshaw Mountain Bears make the trip to the White Mountains to take on the 2-0 Snowflake Lobos in what could be Snowflake’s toughest test of the season so far.
The Bears are big, physical, talented and have been impressive through their first two games. They come to Snowflake with plenty of confidence — and at least one Phoenix-area newspaper is predicting the upset, picking Bradshaw Mountain to knock off the Lobos on their home field.
And Snowflake will have to face the challenge without two major pieces of its offense.
Starting quarterback Jacob LaDuke remains sidelined with a knee injury, and the Lobos lost leading receiver Nash Reidhead to an injury suffered during practice earlier this week. Against a team as talented as Bradshaw Mountain, those losses make an already difficult matchup even tougher.
But there is plenty of reason for optimism in Snowflake.
Sophomore quarterback Maverick Greer stepped into the spotlight last week against ALA-West Foothills and delivered a lights-out performance, completing 12 of 15 passes for 133 yards and four touchdowns against a top-tier defense.
Now Greer and the Lobos return home — and home field in Snowflake is something special.
Friday night football in Snowflake features a game-day atmosphere that surpasses what you’ll find at many small colleges. A packed and passionate Lobo crowd creates one of the most electric high school football environments in Arizona, and that home-field advantage could play a major role tonight.
The Bears are undefeated. The Lobos are undefeated. Snowflake is short-handed. And the upset predictions are already coming in.
Can the Lobos prove the doubters wrong and defend their home field, or will Bradshaw Mountain make the trip back to Prescott Valley 3-0?

Snowflake Faces Tough Road Test at ALA–West Foothills
The Snowflake Lobos hit the road tonight for Waddell, Arizona, where they’ll face the ALA–West Foothills Guardians in what could be one of Snowflake’s toughest early-season tests.
Both teams enter the matchup 1–0 after convincing season-opening victories. Snowflake opened the season with a 37–7 win over Coconino, while ALA–West Foothills made a statement with a 43–0 shutout of Westview.
The Lobos dominated this matchup a year ago, defeating the Guardians 30–10 in Snowflake. But ALA–West Foothills entered that game under difficult circumstances after losing its starting quarterback and head coach just weeks before the season began. The Guardians recovered and went on to make a run into the 4A state playoffs.
This time, it’s Snowflake dealing with adversity.
Starting quarterback Jacob LaDuke suffered a knee injury in last week’s win over Coconino and will not be available tonight. That leaves the Lobos facing a major challenge on the road against a Guardians team that is big, physical and athletic.
Snowflake has built its reputation on physical football, strong defense and finding ways to win tough games. Tonight should provide an early indication of how the Lobos respond when tested away from home and without their starting quarterback.

Coconino Panthers Travel to Snowflake for 2026 Football Season Opener
High school football is back in the White Mountains!
The Coconino Panthers travel to Snowflake Friday night to take on the Lobos as both teams kick off the 2026 Arizona high school football season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Snowflake High School, with the game broadcast live on iTalk 106.7 FM, iTalk1067.com and iTalk Sports.
A Rematch of Last Year’s Season Opener
These two teams also opened the season against each other a year ago, and the Lobos came away with a hard-fought 28–23 victory over Coconino in Flagstaff.
Snowflake running back Brenner Green led the way, carrying the ball 21 times for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Jacob LaDuke completed 8 of 11 passes for 136 yards, while Christian Smith caught three passes for 90 yards.
That victory helped launch what became another strong season for the Lobos.
Snowflake eventually advanced deep into the 4A State Playoffs, defeating Eastmark 35–0 before its season came to an end against Mica Mountain in the state quarterfinals.
Coconino also reached the postseason and picked up playoff victories over Mesquite and Bradshaw Mountain before its run came to an end.
Now both programs start over at 0–0, and this time the Panthers have to make the trip to Snowflake.
